Curiouser and Curiouser…Browsing idly through the web I came across the new Alice in Wonderland range that is soon to be released at Miss Selfridge, and I have to say I’m in love!
Coinciding with the release of the film (coming out on the 5th of March) the range features pieces t shirts emblazoned with slogans and characters from Tim Burton’s reworking of the famous book, while other pieces are more ”Alice inspired”,like this Lace Insert Dress, £38,polka dot shorts and frilly tiered skirts.
I personally cannot wait for this collection to drop, and have already pre-ordered the ”I’m Late For A Very Important Date” tee,£20, shown here on the right. My other favourite pieces are denim shorts covered in white love hearts, £25,a red velvet bow headband,£6 and a clock and cupcake necklace,£18.The range starts from just £4 for a ring and goes up to £40.
Pre shop the collection here and if like me you’re really keen, sign up to the newsletter that lets you know the minute the collection becomes available!
They were joined by his five siblings and his father, along with Stella McCartney and artist Sam Taylor Wood.
Kate arrived outside St Pauls church in Knightsbridge yesterday in a black dress and fur stole, along with five inch Christian Louboutin shoes, whilst socialite Daphne Guinness turned up in a billowing cape from the designers 2002 collection.
The service ends a week of mourning for the designer, which saw a minutes silence at London Fashion Week in his honour, and Lady Gaga dedicating her performance at the Brit Awards to him.
McQueen hung himself at his Mayfair home earlier this month, following the death of his much-loved mother Joyce.
The singer,24, has admitted that she won’t be making another album, instead concentrating on opening a trendy ‘rent-a-frock’ shop with her sister Sarah Owen.
Speaking backstage at the NME Awards Lily said: “I’m not making another album. It’s a really big commitment to do an album these days.
“People don’t buy music anymore and I don’t want to tie myself to being on the road for three years.”
Lily has some exciting ventures for her progression into fashion. First of all she has started a project with designer Wayne Hemingway, her Lucy In Disguise fashion line and the opening of a clothes rental shop in central London.
Speaking about the clothing line/shop,she said: I’m in the office everyday sourcing clothes and getting really excited. We’ll have loads of amazing stuff that would be really expensive to buy, but girls can come in, hire something for one night and have a laugh’’
The singer will launch her Lucy In Disguise range at the Vintage at Goodwood Festival in August
Lily’s music career has taken a bit of a nosedive of late, with lukewarm reactions to her latest album and sales figures not doing as well as they could. I personally remember her line a few years ago at New Look and not being overly impressed.
So do you think this is a good idea? Is this a natural progression for the star or do you think she should just stick to her day job?
I’ve decided to do a round up of my favourite collections. Although I couldn’t afford the ticket price (who can?) Ive been able to enjoy the highlights of fashion week from my very own computer thanks to London Fashion Weeks website.
So here are my faves, with hyperlinks to the live shows where available:
Sass and Bide -Tribal with a tailored twist
Mulberry -Denim, Tan & Leopard
Think i’d better stop there: view the full range of catwalk galleries here
Just like the ones you used to get in Spiderman chewing gum, Chanels ‘Haute Couture Tattoos’ are the same that we all had when we were kids.Costing £49 for a pack of 55, the tattoos will go on sale in March and have already been sported by celebrities such as Daisy Lowe and Agyness Deyn.
A reporter who tried them out has said :”my ineptitude at applying them means a colossal wastage rate, with blackened bits of logo curled about me like dead flies.”
What do you think? would you buy these tattoos to have a taste of high fashion, or like me do you think they are a collossal waste of money for somethin that just looks, well, tacky?
Right so i’m off out in a bit, problem is is that my new, beautiful, nude coloured platforms have the slippiest sole i’ve ever encountered. So much so that just walking around my flat has become a hazard. So what did I do? Trudge carefully along the road ? Why no, I reached for the cheese grater!
”Cheese Grater??” I hear you say, yes cheese grater!
Ladies all you have to do is simply grate the bottoms of your slippy shoes a few times and they’ll immediately be as safe to walk in as your trustiest stilettos.
However the model told how she had lost out on a lot of catwalk work after refusing to lose weight.
The row comes as popstar turned designer Victoria Beckham defended designers rights to use thin models on American daytime show ‘’The View’’
Beckham has been taken more seriously in the fashion industry after a major image and lifestyle overhaul. Her latest collection for her DvB fashion line has just received positive reviews at New York Fashion Week, where she said: “Most of the girls I use are naturally thin.”
The fashion industry was supposed to have moved away from the trend of waif-like models following the deaths of Luisel Ramos, suffered a fatal heart attack during a fashion week in Uruguay in 2006. She had lived on a diet of green leaves and Diet Coke for three months in a bid to be ready for a the catwalk show.
I personally think that this debate could rage on for years and years. It always seems to emerge during Fashion Week season.Designers will always want their models to be thinner and thinner, resembling coathangers, because simply, the clothes hang better that way, yet there will also be outcries from anorexia groups and national press calling for healthier looking models, and I don’t see a solution arising anytime soon.
I must say though that i’m surprised at Victoria Beckhams attitude, especially after she has come under scrutiny for her weight in the past.Either way i’d love your comments and thoughts about this story.
